Why are insulation jackets necessary?
In steam systems, about 8 to 12% of the energy in steam is lost in steam distribution with a significant portion attributed to radiation from high-temperature components like flanges, valves, flash vessels, and moisture separators, which can reach 150-200°C. These losses not only inflate operational costs, but also makes it difficult to maintain.
For plants located in colder climates, these losses are even more amplified with lower ambient temperatures accelerate heat dissipation, further reducing system efficiency and increasing fuel costs.
